Cranbury, NJ — August 29, 2023  This year, the AmeriHealth Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council celebrated five years of its commitment to service. To further its mission, the Council organized a volunteer event with its associates at the Larc School. The Larc School is a local private non-profit special education school serving students with disabilities. AmeriHealth has continued to actively identify opportunities to give back in areas of health equity and community support.

Members of the AmeriHealth DEI Council visited the campus for a tour and identified an opportunity to enhance the school’s library. To help support this initiative, associates held a month-long fundraiser and book drive, collecting books, sensory objects, and supplies. Following the drive, the AmeriHealth team spent a day cleaning up, organizing, and decorating the library with all of the new donations.

“We are so proud to be able to make this donation to the Larc school and help to support the education and growth of a generation of students,” says Michael Munoz, Market President of AmeriHealth. “Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council’s commitment to health equity and service to the community is so inspiring and we look forward to more opportunities to give back.”

“By selecting to support Larc School’s library, the AmeriHealth team not only helped 100 current students, but also helped provide for our future students.  These donations have allowed Larc students to have the place to bring books to life,” says Kim Cowperthwait, CMP, Manager, Events & Community Affairs of Larc School.  “The AmeriHealth efforts allow hearing-impaired students to explore literacy through touch and smell, and students who are visually impaired to engage with a book through auditory stimulation. This campaign helped make a difference in enhancing the resources Larc School currently provides to its students.”
