Cranbury, NJ, May 2, 2024 — AmeriHealth has been named a 2024 Company that Cares by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ). The company was recently honored at the awards reception hosted by CIANJ in partnership with COMMERCE magazine for its work with the Larc School, a dedicated New Jersey-based nonprofit that serves students with disabilities.

In 2023, AmeriHealth supported the Larc School, a local nonprofit special education school serving students with disabilities. AmeriHealth enhanced the school’s library ahead of the back-to-school season by hosting a month-long fundraiser and book drive, collecting books, sensory objects, and supplies for students. Additionally, AmeriHealth spent a day cleaning, organizing, and stocking the library with the newly donated items. The donations allowed children with hearing or visual impairments to learn in a new and exciting way. Through the AmeriHealth work to improve the Larc School, it helped create a better future for the children it serves.

“We understand the challenges that individuals with disabilities sometimes face and wanted to do more in support of the students and the compassionate team at the Larc School, said Mike Munoz, senior vice president and market president, AmeriHealth.

To show its appreciation, this past April, the Larc School presented AmeriHealth with its Paul Porado Humanitarian Award for continuous years of volunteer work on the organization’s Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge event, and most recently for support from the company’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.

“I am proud that associates from the AmeriHealth Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council made a commitment to raise significant funds for the Larc School and refurbished the school’s library giving students some of the latest tools and resources for learning,” said Munoz.

This year’s selection of companies was decided by a panel of judges from several New Jersey organizations. The winners are featured in a special “Companies that Care” section in the June issue of COMMERCE magazine, the media arm of the CIANJ. CIANJ is a statewide business advocacy organization, representing more than 950 corporate members from every industry sector.
